Empowering Pediatric Manual Mobility: Integrating Fitness, Functioning, Friends, Family, Fun

Pediatric manual wheelchair mobility is more than just teaching children how to propel a wheelchair—it’s about empowering young users to participate fully in all aspects of life. This course is designed for clinicians and providers seeking to provide child-centered interventions by integrating the 5 "F" words from the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF) framework: Function, Family, Fitness, Fun, and Friends. Through a review of current research and case examples, this hour-long course will highlight the importance of providing access to independent mobility to enhance a child’s independence, development, and occupational performance. The course content will provide practical guidance on interventions from evaluation to configuration and training.
